Just around the corner

I'm back in the shop making some new stained glass items for my store. I decided to look around just to see what others are making in stained glass and pricing. There are alot of very nice pieces of glass work out there. One thing that I did notice is that the pricing is all over the place. I'm not an expert in this area by no means, but I have been making stained glass pieces for a long time. I do know how much it costs and how long it takes to make a good piece. It takes time to travel to get the glass, score and break it out, grind it, wrap, solder, clean and wax it. Then I have to box it up and go to the post office or shipper. All takes time and time is money. All I am trying to say is I wish people would think about the real time and material they have invested in their projects and price it at least close to what is invested. I know it is really hard to put a good price on your handmade items but least get close. Well that's enough on that. Just had to get it off my chest.
The holiday season is just around the corner. Hope everyone is ready. I'm going to try and get some more pieces completed and in my store before it is to late. I am always behind anyway. Just have fun in what you are making and it will be worth it. If anyone has any holiday suggestions that I can make, please contact me.

Long Time

It has been a long time since I wrote in this blog. I have been busy doing house work amongst other things. The picture of the flying mallards is one of my most favorite pieces that I made. I just had to show it off. Anyway, I have to get back in my studio and get working on some more glass projects. My daughter has been asking me to make some more pieces that I can put on etsy. I did go into a craft show in NY this summer and sold a few pieces. That helps so that I can buy some more glass and other items I need for my hobby. Well, lets see what I can come up with to make. I will try not to stay away for so long.

Few days late

Well as I stated before, I needed something different to make. I came up with this idea a while ago. A four dimensional heart with a solid heart center. I designed and made this just to see how it would look. I guess I should have put this up before Valentine's day. I'm always a day or so late anyway. But here it is. Hope you all like it. If you see anything I have made in my store or if you have any ideas of your own that you would want me to make for you or a friend please contact me. I will do my best to accommodate you.

Better Late Than Never

Well I finally picked up a new camera. Here is a picture of the latest memory box I finished back in January. This is it for the boxes for awhile. I have to move on to different designs. Don't know what yet, but something else for sure. Maybe I will put my candy canes in my store along with this memory box. I know a little late for Christmas items or is it early. But better late than never.I have not been doing much as far as glass work goes. I have been working around the house with some much needed upgrades. Maybe someone can give me some ideas on what to make next.

At a Loss

Well I have my box completed as I said. I can't take any pictures of the just completed box my camera is broken and is out for repairs. The picture shown here is another box I made a little while ago for my daughters friend. At least I got my money back for materials on this one. I hope I hear from the camera repair people soon. Now I have to try and figure out what my next project will be. I will have to go through my patterns or come up with a idea to draw. I will let you know what I decided.

Enjoy your Hobby

This is a hobby to me that I enjoy doing, not a job. But instead of giving away my work to friends and family, I am selling some of them to help support my hobby so I can continue on without breaking the bank. Not that I still won't give some away. I just don't want to loose interest in my hobby turning it into a job. I'm sure you all know how that goes.

My workstation..

I thought everyone would like to see my studio where I do my glass work and designs. Most days my light table (the white one) has several projects in the works. Currently, you can see my unfinished candy canes I am currently working on. In the background, if you look closely, you can see my glass grinder and my saw. My soldering table (the brown one) has my newest memory box/urn in the finishing stages. I will post more pictures of that later on in the week. Hope you enjoy the pictures, and keep checking back for more postings. I will be posting a survey in the near future on what everyone would like to see me create next.....
